tho i think ruben is one of the sickest ever i hardly consider all the signature stuff underrated. underrated riders dont get sig frames n bars from 2 companies n grips n tires from another not to mention shoes. i think i jus release vid parts view n far between so his riding isnt always in the lime light. d3ath to anyone hatin on rubes

  • tomasz

Ruben is king… He isn’t a contest rider! But his style is amazing! Watch “Grounded” and you’ll know…

  • http://20negative.com Bone

underrated by who, most people I know consider him one of the best riders ever.

  • Psychedelic Luke

yeah really. He’s hardly underrated, the guy has gotten so much coverage over the years and has put out several groundbreaking sections most notably in the only videos that matter: the two Etnies films.

  • anonomous

i wouldnt say underrated as ppl nkow how good he is, and hes reall good.

    fact- ruben loved that counts

is Ruben suddenly someone who interviews people’s penises at akateparks WTF is up with the pic??

I’m not sure I would use underrated as the term. He is very influential. Look at Forward, before then you didn’t see too many trick out of wall rides, manuals to tailwhip etc…not to mention the “Ruben” wall ride. Now they’re pretty commonly seen at any park ’round the world. Now look at Grounded, at first people shat on all the ‘Gaps to walls’, now they’re popping up in just about every video part or magazine since. He doesn’t pump out video part after video part, true. Super influential and highly…’rated’, IMO.

Can’t wait for the new frame to drop! Can someone translate this please? I got most of it but, Babelfish is a p.i.t.a.

Ruben single handedly progressed bmx leaps and bounds. I know that sounds a bit sensationalist but his innovative way at looking at street and riding in general keeps bmx so interesting….Ruben wallride anyone?

  • AMPM

Im gona be the devils advocate here and say meh meh to Mr. Alcantara. True story he progressed bmx alot, but nowadays the jibs and jabs he do aren’t anything to write ma about. His etnies part was a moderate letdown for myself. More gap to no where wallrides than you can shake a stick at. I want the old rueben back. The one that busted dub whips, amazing inverts, and rodeo grinds. Im sure people are gona lose their bladders that ive typed this, but oh well.

I may not be pissing myself, but I can’t say I agree either. Ruben is still Ruben. The wallrides in his Grounded section are immense.

  • fed

how can you not appreciate the gap to wall ride.. im sure you appreciate the 65 barspins garret does everytime he steps on his bike.

  • pedro

360 double whips whem no one was even double whip… rodeo grinds anyone? he can see lines where they even doesn’t exist for sure he was a mark for bmx

  • THELION

ruben is one of my favorite riders of all time. he’s so good and has such good style.

  • http://thesupermarket.us superduper

Tricks go in and out of style. Ruben’s grounded section is epic and there are very few ‘tricks’ in it. What makes his section so unique is its scale and the way he responds to and is inspired by the context.
