What the fuck has Chad Shack been up to? When is the next Shook coming? Is the Sunday DVD ever coming out? Is he really getting Boost Mobile flow from Rick Thorne? Read my interview with him starting… now.
Alright so i guess i’ll just start by asking you what you’ve been up to lately? Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think we’ve seen anything new from you since Electronical and Like Totally dropped?
No, I was super busy with production on the Sunday Bikes DVD and also doing web videos for ODSY and BNQT. We just moved into Post on the Sunday Bikes DVD and Im also working a full time job in LA, editing and animation on a Reality Show and a Documentary on Stan Lee, the creator of Marvel Comics
Oh damn that’s serious. So are you ridiculously busy right now? Finishing the Sunday DVD while doing all that other shit sounds like a lot of work
Yea, I work 11-7 everyday at my full time and then go home, eat dinner and work on the Sunday DVD until about 1-2 am and on the weekends. The work load is intense, but It keeps me on my toes.
What is the tentative release date of the Sunday DVD?
As of right now, we passed up our deadline. We are just in the process of all the riders approving what clips will be used in their parts and what songs will be used. After that’s wrapped, we will start editing and assembly.
Nice. If you had to estimate at this point, who do you think will have the best part?
Every guy on the team has an amazing style and bag of tricks. I think they will all bring something different to the video, making the final piece incredible. I like to think of videos as a whole and not parts.
Can you talk about what’s coming with Shook? It’s been a while since the last one came out.
Well, I took a long time to put this Shook out. We went over budget early in the year and I wasn’t happy about where we were with footage. Wade has been filming a lot with his East Coast guys to bulk up the content. We are already editing the project and it should be done very soon. We have a pretty good amount of people that will go in this one, Sean Sexton and Tony Cardona will have a little part, Drew Hossleton and Mark Potoczny will share a little part, Josh Betley will have a part. Fakiemaster has a part, Wade actually came through with a really cool part, theres a tri part with Anthony Villani, Jeff Kocsis and one other kid, that has slipped my mind (I’m sorry dude), This dude Camilo from Mexico has a rad part, Jesse Suscki has a part…. and I think there might be a couple more, but I’m a work and cant look at the folder at the moment.
Nice, sounds good. True or false, there is an Adam22 clip in it.
False, thats going in the Sunday friends section, even better….
Haha, ooh. Alright so here’s another question I wanted to ask you… street riding has changed a lot in terms of how it is covered in the media since you were making all the Shine videos and shit. It’s like street used to be really underground, and that’s changed a lot. A lot of the biggest videos these days are pretty much all street. Do you feel like street has been sort of compromised? I don’t even really know exactly how to say what I’m thinking here, but it’s definitely been weird watching street change in how the media covers it.
It’s just the progression of bike riding. Things become popular for a while then die out and something else becomes popular and so forth. Im not sure its been compromised, but its definitely gotten a lot more recognition and focus put on it. This seems to have created more “street” riders of different backgrounds and styles, changing the way people looked at “street” riding.
Word. Is street your favorite thing to film?
Yea for the most part. But I really enjoy shooting trails, cause you can take your time and set up nice shots. I also really like to shoot dialogue driven pieces, where you can tell a story. Rather than just doing the whole clips thing.
A few years back you sort of stepped back from actually riding and pretty much dedicated yourself to doing video. Why was that? Do you ever get tempted to start ripping again?
I really love riding. But I always felt like I could do more and help more people through making videos. it was a hard decision to make and wasn’t abrupt at all, over time I just got more and more busy. After a while, I found myself working more than riding, I guess its a part of growing up. You start to gain more responsibilities and have to balance them out. For me, there’s just not much time to dedicate to riding. It bums me out to say so, its been apart of me, driven me an brought me to where I am at this exact moment. For that I will always love it.
What are your thoughts on dating crazy girls from Guadalajara?
It was really fun. It helped my Spanish progress a lot quicker which was an upside. Down side, is its temporary and they get hyphy when you can’t call Mexico and chat for hours internationally. Bad Idea, unless your sponsored by T-Mobile.
Hahaha. You gotta get that Rick Thorne Boost Mobile money.
Yea, Where’s you at Rick, flow me some minutes…
Alright last question, if you were a rapper who would you be and why?
Mission Man from Dayton, Ohio. Cause he’s not scared to be himself. Look him up, for a nice chuckle.
I will do that. Any last words?
A sincere thank you to anyone who has ever watched a video I worked on, anyone who has ever helped on a project or been on a trip, to all my friends who support me and what I do. A special thanks to Odyssey and Sunday for giving me such and incredible opportunity that, as a child, I dreamed of. All of you have played a part in my life and Ill never lose site of that. Thank you so much.
