I love how fast The Come Up moves. More posts means more shit for people to look at and more to choose from. However sometimes it’s easy to forget about all the good shit that pops up online, so I’m trying to institute a new top ten feature for every month that goes by. I tried this back in February ( part 1, part 2 )but it got a little cluttered just making a big list of different videos, so hopefully this works out better. I’m starting with August 2009 here even though it’s half way through September but hopefully I don’t take as long on the next one. Walk with me…
10. Chris Silva in BMXFU’s “FUTU” – Chris has been one of my favorite riders for a while and this section represents why partially. It wasn’t the best section in FUTU and wasn’t Chris’ best web video ever but it was still really enjoyable. The vertical smith to 180 down stairs made the part for me.
9. Staff August Mix Section – Sometimes it takes some reminding that aside from being an insane guido goofball, Big Daddy is also one of the best riders out. He does 2 amazing hammers in the lower Manhattan area in this that nobody saw coming, and the rest of the edit is real good too.
8. Johnny Devlin In Shadow’s “Into The Void” – Shadow put this section online presumably to help get a few more votes for Johnny in this year’s Nora Cup for best video part of the year. Will he get nominated? I don’t know, but I do think it’ll be funny if he wins and isn’t there since Johnny’s currently riding his bike across the country living like a nomad and I kinda doubt a trip to Vegas is in his plans.

7. The Come Up’s SF Trip – I was really happy to see this finally hit the web almost a year after we did the trip. Deece footage of Eddie Cleveland, Joof, Jake Seeley and Maria, and 2 clips from yours truly.

6. Matty Long Defgrip Exclusive – The casualties from the release of this edit include one very stupid BMXBoard thread, my very annoyed retort, Chris Long losing his mind after having his filming being called into question, and then Matty getting hooked up by Volume and Demolition. It’s a jungle out there, kids.
6. Albie Bennett In Metal’s “Dead Bang” – This video may have came out over a year ago but most of you probably didn’t see it. Albie’s part might have been overshadowed by Sean Burns’ amazing section but it still held it’s own and is unique in it’s own way.
4. Dan Lacey Lotek Web Video – Kids bitched and moaned about this section on the internets but I can’t really feel that criticism. Is the tuck no hander the most played out trick in BMX at the moment? Yes. Does the average 15 year old doing it off of 2 foot tall ledges make it look like an absolute abortion? Yes. But Dan’s tucks are perfect if you ask me, and this edit was just really well put together in general.
3. Dakota Roche In “Brighton Ain’t Ready” – In my book, B.A.R. was the best video of the year and in my opinion, Dakota had the best section. I know he filmed all this in only a couple weeks which makes it even better. He may be every 16 year old’s favorite rider right now but I can’t front on him, he’s just amazing.

2. Lotek’s Mike Hoder Web Video – The kids love dudes who go big and land flat, and that’s pretty much what Hoder’s all about. It’s been a while since most of you saw anything from Mike and he definitely proved in this edit that he still has it in him.
1. Van Homan In The Two By Four Video – Is it a coincidence that 2/3rds of the videos I’ve got listed here are from DVDs? I don’t think so, despite the Vimeo revolution, most of the really insane bike riding still appears on DVD first. Van’s Two By Four section made everyone lose their minds when they saw it and rightfully so, Van is the man.
And just because I couldn’t narrow it down to ten, here’s some bonus videos that I think are memorable as well:
New Shola Trailer – Shola has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year and this trailer definitely helped to stir some excitement. Although a lot of the comments revolved around the central theme of “holy fuck I hope the video isn’t edited to death metal” (it isn’t), it also showcased a small percentage of Davey Watson’s insane section and that alone makes this trailer memorable.
Becky Ain’t Ready - I always like the edits the They Ain’t Ready kids put together but this one has a lot of clips of Kareem Williams killing it and that made me an extra big fan of it. “Like pussy, luhhhhhhhhh heaaaaad”.

Nigel’s Heart Of The City – All these Gatorade web videos that Nigel has had are pretty cool. That line he does at the Banks is awesome and I was stoked to see him come up with a new rail move down that Queens kinker as well.
Scott Ditchburn Web Video – I love the way this guy rides. And he came up with a grind (the tooth to over 180) so cool that Nathan Williams had already learned it and filmed one less than a month later which I thought was pretty funny/awesome.
Lotek Clocktower Web Video – I like this one because it shows what it’s like just chilling in SF at Clocktower. Jackson also rolls over one of those big balls to 180 which seems incredibly hard if you ask me.
