Bob Scerbo: I have no respect for filmers ghost writing videos for riders who have skills but no eyes”.

Bob Scerbo has a great interview up on ESPN where Tunney asks him about ABD’s (which has strangely become a hot topic on the internet the past couple days, which is weird because we’ve been joking around/calling people out on that shit for years):

“I take that serious on a street riding level but not on a video level, there is no need to study what other people do or base riding around anyone else. With that said, if I personally do something in a video and some herb goes and 180′s or bars out of it knowing I did it and throws it in some slop edit, that’s just corny. As far as being out riding with your friends goes, the streets are open and everyone should have fun. I will say I have no respect for filmers ghost writing videos for riders who have skills but no eyes.”

The whole thing where a filmer takes a really sick young kid out and just tells him dope shit to do happens all the time and it’s super funny seeing Bob finally say something publicly about it. It’s so rare to find a young rider with good taste in tricks… I’m going to have to evoke Jay Z: you can pay for school, but you can’t buy class. He also talks about the dilemma every company deals with; how do you release your video content? Nobody buys DVD’s and “everyone forgets about DVD’s the next day” (more on that sentiment later today on Chicken & Rice):

“I wanted the video to be seen for obvious reasons, it’s really tough these days to stand out and I have to constantly reevaluate how I put stuff out, that is why we debuted it online. The DVD exists strictly for the people who collect. I collect everything and just thought it was a way to be fair.”

The fact that people like Bob are beginning to treat DVD’s as if they were a collectors item that only a dedicated few would care enough to have, is telling about the diminishing role of DVD’s.
