What is going on in BMX lately? Beef is popping up everywhere. Today we have Chad Kagy responding to some pretty intense remarks that Steve Bancroft wrote in The Albion about Chad’s brutal crash at the X Games that left him with a broken leg. I really don’t feel like quoting this whole thing between Steve and Chad (I could barely even get through it but you can read them go to war about it on Chad’s Facebook fan page) but basically Steve felt like Chad was rude to him at the X Games when he tried to interview him about Jamie Bestwick. Then Chad broke his leg. Steve wrote the following in the Jamie Bestwick article:

Chad responded:

“I am bummed this was printed about me by Steven Bancroft from The Albion bmx magazine. What kind of Douche actually writes that he is “self-indulgent” about me “snapping his leg in half”? BMX needs more support and positivity not more negativity. Sucks there are people trying to step on others to get ahead.”

Again, you can go here to read Steve and Chad go back and forth about this further. Normally I try to keep my personal opinion out of these kinds of things, but I’m going to be honest here: what Steve wrote is ridiculous. I love what The Albion does and have always gotten along with Steve in the past but to say that someone got hurt as a result of being rude to you earlier in the day is just stupid and mean. Was Chad rude to Steve? We’ll never know, although he denies it and presents a very different account of how the conversation between them went down, but even if Chad was the biggest asshole on earth to Steve, that would still be a really lame thing to actually put in print, nevermind think.
