This is going to be a good week. Wanna know why? Because it’s Cult Week! You probably want to know what that means, and rightfully so. Cult Week is an idea I came up with where this week I would post interview with the 3 biggest guns on the Cult team, Dakota Roche, Chase Dehart and Chase Hawk, followed by an interview with Robbie Morales (that’s right, his first public statement on the dramatic split from Fit and Chris Moeller that went down many months ago) and then Friday, after you’ve read every last word of every interview we’re going to premiere the first official Cult web video. It’s so exclusive that I haven’t even seen it yet! This is going to be a good week kids, I can just feel it. So without further ado, click the link and read Dakota’s interview then cross your legs and try not to piss yourself in anticipation of the bangers you’re going to witness on Friday. It’s a celebration, bitches.
So first question, what made you decide to stick with Robbie and do this Cult thing instead of staying with Moeller at Fit?
I first met Robbie in 2002 and shortly after that he gave me my first Fit frame. He seemed to be pretty down for me from the get go and I really have to thank him for that. But with that aside, I think a good amount of people could agree with me that Robbie played a very crucial role in building Fit as a brand and I have always respected the dude for putting everything he had into making Fit as good as it could be. With that being said, between the relationship Robbie and I have had for 7 years, his obvious hard work with Fit, the fact that I’m down for everyone involved with the new brand, and knowing that I get to be apart of something brand new all the way from the start, I knew being apart of Cult and backing up my homie was the best move for me.
How long had you known you were going to leave? Was it a hard decision since you had a signature frame and grips through Fit already?
There was talk of starting a new brand for a few months before we actually quit. But everyone has to understand that the way it ended was NOT according to plan in the sense that everyone who quit Fit was gonna do everything legit and wait for our contracts to be up on December 1st. Certain situations caused everything to happen much quicker then planned but that’s just the way it went, what can you do?
As far as the frame and grips go, yeah it didn’t make it any easier by all means. Having a frame or any product with your name on it is an honor for sure, and walking away from that is never easy. But at the same time, I’m confident that I will get that opportunity again with Cult, not right away but eventually.

Obviously you’re closer to Robbie than you ever were to Moeller, but was it hard leaving when he was the one paying you for the past few years? Everyone knows that Robbie and Moeller have had their issues back and forth over the years but it doesn’t seem like the team really had any issues so much…
Yeah I mean, again it didn’t make it easier, but I don’t even know if I would’ve been on Fit if it wasn’t for Robbie, so it can go either way. Moeller does sign the checks and everything and I do have to thank him for that, but when it really comes down to it, Robbie was the one who pushed to get me on in the first place.
Everyone seems to agree that your Stay Fit part was one of the best of the year, was it a weird experience having that come out when you weren’t even with the company anymore? Everyone said it was the last part at the premiere, but then it got moved to second to last for the DVD…
I’m glad people were into it, THANK YOU guys! But yeah, it was a little weird, but Moeller asked us all if it was ok to still put our sections in the vid and everyone was down. For me personally, I just know I put my heart into filming for that video so I really wanted my part to be in the vid either way. Besides, I was on Fit during the whole filming process, so as far as I’m concerned, that needed to be in the video. It was a good way to close a chapter, ya know?
Okay moving on, are you filming for any new projects now?
Yes, have been filming a ton for a Cult teaser followed by a Cult promo. Keep your eyes peeled kids.
Getting bumped up to Levis pro must have been pretty dope.
Yes it was definitely something that got me psyched, I gotta thank everyone involved for that one, cheers!
Everyone was talking about that one crash in Stay Fit where you fall in the puddle. You told me the story a couple months ago about how you felt after and it was pretty funny, could you tell that again?
Yeah that was a gnarly one. Haha, I planned on 180ing it and landing fakie in the puddle so it would make a cool splash and it would get ramp slo-moed in the vid and it would be sick. Well, instead I got anti-hop super bad and tagged the hell out of the rail and went swimming. You kids have no idea how confused I was when I was walking away, I thought I hit my head but I didn’t, hence why I was rubbing my head while walking away. I felt like I got hit by a car for like a week. Not to mention that I live 3 blocks away from that thing and it stares me down everyday now.
Thanks for your time dude. Any shout outs to end this with?
Yeah definitely thanks to God, everyone that’s down, everyone invloved with Cult, all the homies and family and everyone at Levis, Lotek and G-Sport. Nice one……
