Jared Souney On Ben Hucke’s Dig Cover.

Yes, this is the third post about this cover, but I think this one is worth it. Jared Souney wrote up a piece all about what went into getting the photo which is really interesting if you’re into photography, or just fascinated by the idea of trying something this dangerous 300+ times. Only bad news: they didn’t film it.

Seen on the TCUB photo section that you should join and start posting in.

now this is just a thought, but this could be top secret that he didn’t pull it, and only a few people know.. hmm…

now this just a reply to your obvious lack of thought. I cant imagine any reputable magazine/ photographer/ rider, letting a photo of a trick that never got pulled slip by. Certainly not a COVER SHOT! That would be pretty embarrassing for everyone involved. If I am ever proven wrong on this matter than I will apologize for my harsh words, but until then….SUCK IT. I’m not gonna’ bite on some “top secret not pulled trick theory”

It was most certainly landed, and clean as a whistle I might add. I admit I didn’t think it was going to be possible until he started getting close. In 25 years of being around BMX bikes every day and 15 years of shooting photos of it, it was one of the coolest things I’ve seen, mostly because it didn’t make sense in my head.

I wouldn’t put it past him to do it for an edit in the future. The first time he did the regular handplant I thought it was a one off, next thing you know he was doing them lime nothing. Not calling it out, but now that he’s done it, I suspect he might do it for something video wise. I want to see that shit on video too, and I saw it in person.

If he so much as dabbed a foot that shot never would have seen the light of day. I suspect we are only seeing the beginning of what Ben’s got up his tattooed sleeve.

Thank you Jared. I read your write up, and it was awesome. Plus, your integrity as a photographer and journalist was never in question. At least not by anyone that matters. That picture is amazing, and I am a bit jealous that i didn’t get to see it go down. If he pulled it as clean as you said, then I don’t see why he wouldn’t film it in the future. (um…That’s a BLATANT challenge Ben) I cant wait to watch.
