JJ Palmere off Orchid, on Etnies.

I have known about this for a week or two and keep forgetting to post it… JJ has left Orchid to ride for Etnies. I was planning on interviewing him this weekend for the site, but I spent all day throwing up and shitting my face off so I’ll try and get that done this week. If you have any questions you’d like for me to ask, feel free to leave suggestions in the comments.

Damn man, looks like he’s leaving the dudes that helped him out earlier in the game for companies who will make him more money. Can i blame him? don’t know. etnies is alright but the whole mongoose thing is screwed…

JJ … considering you’ve been injured for a bit … how did these sponsor changes come about? Are you stoked? Do you actually get to eat off bmx now?

    …Lame.

It’s obvious things are changing in BMX, and I dont’ mind the kids that need more money for things like more travel and for instance maybe even knee surgeries. Not saying Mongoose or Etnies will pay for it, but if they don’t, making more money personally will help with paying for that.

I am however begining to worry about the state of BMX. With conglomerates like Nike coming in, even Etnies really shaking things up. I’m just worried about “Rider Owned” losing some ground. Money is a very motivating factor always, “soul rider” or not. I just don’t want BMX to lose focus, and end up being just a money pit like skateboard street has become. You must be kidding when 53434343 million little girls are at a skate street comp? Those girls wouldn’t even look our way in HS, even if you did look like Sheckler, now it’s cool to be rich, goodlooking, and wood pushing. It’s all just a fine line, and I’m hating on no one, but please Rider Owned, find a way to revamp, regroup, or at least take notice of the conglomerates pushing their way into the sport, I’m sure you have.

do you hate the garrett connection with you? like your in his shadow since everyone connects you and him.

which 3 pro bmxers would you pick to join you in a bar fight and why

I rode with JJ alot when i lived outside of Philly and he’s always been the nicest guy. I respect HIS decisions and hope to ride with him again soon.

Ugggh so lame. What a dick move. All these new generation pros seem like money hungry whores. Its not all about the money.

Drew K you are right, BMX is not all about the money. But can you give me an answer as to what it is all about? Probably not, however when you want to just ride your bike for a living money is a definitive factor. You can’t live a healthy life without some cash in your pockets. Shutta as for JJ leaving all the people that helped him out in the beginning. That’s not true at all. JJ was getting hooked up by Nike way before orchid and has been good friends with Derek Adams for years. I assure you, they are still friends and there are no hard feelings between them. Also JJ has been riding for premium for over two years. How long do you have to stay with a company before you can leave and not get hated on for it? JJ is an innovative rider who should ride for a company that appreciates his skill, and not short him deserved money to make room for new team riders. Also back to leaving sponsors that helped him out in the beginning. His first sponsor was staff bmx, and he still rides for them.
