honestly I have no problems with standard and even considered gettin a custom now that they’re made in house, but wtf, that was obviously a cheap shot at fbm, and it was completely uncalled for. I have had an fbm frame in the past, and now that they are doing customs, I will be gettin my next frame from them. I have personally been to s&m and they are very professional and on top of shit. They and Fit are two of the biggest companies. FBM and Solid are completely legit and badass as well. Standard is pissed cause nobody buys their shit and moliterno is a fuckin burnout, along with his “company.”

Chris Moeller had S&M make me custom Menstrual Cycles forks with cantilever studs in 1994. Chromed and everything, no extra charge. Not that a fork is a frame, but still, that’s 15 years ago.

if your a Standard rider you will understand that it isnt just a frame! there is something about them that make you appreciate your bike and bmx more than any other frame. Standard frames created an “underground” community and all fbm are is just another frame company who made it big because crandle was on props.

Standard used to build indestructible frames like the Shorty/Lengthy, STA, Tao… and their parts were top quality. They were the shit when Chad Degroot rode for them. I don’t have any experience with them these days simply due to the fact that they don’t get much exposure, but I’m sure that they still make quality parts. Seems like BMX has become very image driven these days.

They may have been the first to use 1 1/8 head tubes, but Hoffman was the first to introduce a-head style stem/fork arrangement. It was the 1″ super fork, and it was indestructible. Then S&M came out with the Stupor fork, and a “Heavy as Fuck” frame(something like that) which was a jab at Standard and Hoffman. Those were good times… companies were alot more distinguishable back then.

S&M frames have only been made in house since the 90′s. That’s still a long time, though. Standard frame production has only recently been moved in house. Last year, I think? Previously, they were made at Waterford, a road bike mfg. Quality stuff, but Standard are liars if they say they have “10 years experience hand building frames.” I’d say Solid, S&M or FBM are a better choice for customs than Standard.

Not to mention the countless SBC warranty horror stories and the fact that Rick Moliterno fucked his sister.

Besides, if you’re not riding a T1, you fucking suck anyways.

i ride a custom 250 and its probably my favorite frame ever… feels soooo much better than anything else ive ever had!! SBC is the best!

i was side swiped by a car riding an SBC Lengthy in 2000, probably the heaviest/beefy frame ever produced. this impact bowed the frame from headtube to dropouts. not only did standard warranty my frame, but they gave me the option to upgrade to their brand new (at the time) STA OX plat. frame(first of the thin tube/light street frames?) for only a $100 more. 9 years later and the STA is still running strong, around 26 lbs, best $100 i ever spent.
