Here We Go.

Mike from Clicked is pretty pissed off (here and here) about those plastic non-pedals that John from Redendo is promoting. I think this is really the kind of thing that will sort itself out, so I don’t think it’s worth hating on. If they come out on the market and kids love them, then fine, whatever. If they come out and absolutely nobody buys them (which is almost certainly what is going to happen, because really, who the fuck would want that on their bike? Sorry John) then they will cease to exist.

flat landers have been bolting pegs through their bottom brackets for years, It works if you dont need to go fast. The I idea of no drive train, two front wheels (obviously ones is on the back) and an alternative to the chainwheel/ chain / heavy rear hub is a good one but……. Unless you can pedal it ain’t going to work. Been talking with a friend about a similar set up to a kevlar/ plastic engine belt but trouble is the frame would have to have it welded in the rear triangle so if you break it you’re basically scooting till you can get a new frame.

  • DOYLE MOFUGGA

anyone know where i can get one of those skooters lmao i wanna have one to play on so bad look how kool they are lmao

  • england

scooters are bad ass, watch nutter clint or yeagle on one and the whole of the faggots from this site will be on em, trust, watch it happen.

haha, those are pretty fucking stupid though. the pics they have up on the website of dudes riding with them are hilarious!

  • layne

the guy from clicked bmx sounds like a massive douche.
and all this talk about loving bmx and blah blah blah he keeps rambling on about is so lame.

    Yo!

No need to apologize. I had the same reaction the first time the product vision came to me. And that’s why I tested them for almost three years before bringing them to market.

If you set your mind in stone against them, no matter how good the pedals are are you’ll never flow.

I don’t have anything against you, Mikey, or ClickedBMX.com.

In fact, check the new RideBMX! Mike’s video is featured in there and at $3/per I think you should all buy a copy to reward him for all the hard work promoting the Tucson scene!

I had a 3 hour Flow session yesterday in Marana. Then, I got home, hugged my family, ate a grapefruit, and read the new RideBMX cover-to-cover before watching a documentary on Tesla (the scientist, not the band).

    It was a great day.

I would disagree with your assertion that scooting is a bad thing.

Skaters, in-line skaters, and scooter riders have been doing it with a smile for decades.

    Nothing wrong with flowing, IMO.

Nothing wrong with a drive-train, either.

Cool thing is, our pedals adapt to the 48 spline spindle (and we have prototypes that adapt to the other most common spindles).

You can switch back-and-forth from motorized to non-motorized.

    Flow Pedals give you choice.

    Why speed is a non-issue.

“Donny’s made a bunch of mains this season proving to be very consistent, but this weekend it all clicked for him despite losing a chain in the first of three main events!”

Without a dominate back foot spins will be dificult. without chain tension tiretaps will be near impossible. This reminds me of the black inventor of caliber ball or whatever

  • joe NC

    Tesla is the man!

  • http://www.redendo.com John Dale

I made some comments on TCU’s Bullet Ball thread. I felt for the guy, but…well…see my comments.

Anything rotational force lost from the lack of dominant back foot positioning is more than compensated for with the reduction in rotational weight (cranks, chain, sprocket, pedal spindles go away). If you run a front wheel on the back, the extra weight of the driver-hub is also obviated.

The world is full of failed businesses. Entrepreneurs expect that 1/10 will hit, and the 4/10 will break-even.

worst than chris duncan clothing, least thats slightly funny

  • davy B

i will agree that they look stupid but i am a little curious to see how they work out, i think this will prolly only work well with flatland bikes, i think that a drive chain looks better and pedaling is WAY better than scooting, dont you hate it when your chain breaks then you have to scoot like 8 miles back to your house? I do but when that happens i still do fakie tricks on the way for fun, im not going to knock this till i try it,

oh, and i have one of those scooter things in my basement that is sprayed black and green if you are interested email me, element_dirt@hotmail.com

  • j

for flatland Yes. for other stuff probably not other than for a novelty laugh with your mates for a da or two just to see what they are like.

  • JJbmxer

I SAW A VID OF THE INSTALATION OF THOSE PEDALS WHERE THE DUDE USE BRAKES WHY THE FUCK SHOULD I USE BRAKES IF IM NOT GOIN TO PEDAL. I GUESS ITS ALL ABOUT “FLOW” …. DUMB GUY

  • austin.valvecap

    one good use for these

    tramp bikes

  • g-rant

    dear john,

stop talking about “flow.” if you ride a bike at all you will realize that having cranks does not reduce flow, it merely makes many other tricks more difficult, more awkward, and worse looking. you can have all the flow you want, while i blast 6 feet out of a 5 foot quarter pipe and rip around the park with a big smile on. and i won’t pedal once.

  • g-rant

    and that made no sense.

edit: you will realize that having cranks does not reduce flow, but without them, most other tricks will be more difficult, more awkward, and worse looking.

  • yermum

    John Dale,

Who said scootering was a bad thing? I do it every time I break my chain to get home and love skateboarding but what about riding downtown in any city?. The point was that I think the idea of elimenating the heavy drive train is a good one but how does it work? Your product is on option but is not attractive to me. Not only the “scootering” aspect but the foot placement and difference between how most people normally ride (you know like how you pedal on a bike thus making it a bike?). I will say that I am aware of the recent explosion of sales of 160mm crank arms as opposed to 175mm – obviously it makes whips easier for the young guns as your feet are not as far apart. The way Bikes and Riding are progressing is hand in hand, who knows, maybe in 10 years a bike and a skateboard or the fruit boots you refered to will all be using the same foot placement and aesthetic but I doubt it.

I’m not trying to diss your product, it’s a good idea but is limited to a very specific type of riding mostly that does’nt involve driving to every spot you want to ride. There are alternatives to the current set ups but making it work large scale long term is the problem – hence the two from wheel, plastic/ kevlar belt debate that Is going on.

  • typical hate

dude why would you (yermum) give a logical response to John Dale? He used ROLLERBLADING in his defense!. Rollerblading is fucking gay straight up no thoughts or arguments about it end period done thats it and thats all. No pseudo intelligence need be conveyed here boys! all bmxers hate rollerbladers, cops, and like taco bell. I thought that was a concrete common ground.

  • surprised

haha word thats actually a good idea.

  • http://Miketyson.com MIke Tyson

Pedal grinds would be sweet, huh? You would look like a complete moron “FLOWING” around the park without cranks. I would love to see some breakless dudes trying tailtaps and other backwheel tricks. You would look like a douche trying to balance out with your feet together. Like your on a mutherf*(i(ng pogo stick. Goofy! John, if you want to “FLOW” around, why not just stop pedaling? Seems more logical than taking your bike apart. I mean, you could ride home from the park instead of scooting, I mean, “FLOWING” your way home. I doubt this junk is gonna be a big hit with any racers. And one more thing, Dude. No wonder your working on your bike at the park all the time. You got some bit(h working on your bike with a hammer. Try some sockets and wrenches. MIKE T.

i love that it says “previously: bulletball” haha soo good

Definitely…although you’d have to grind the pins off or tape them.

We’ve had quite a few folks point that out.

Would BMX Freestyle have ever got started if Eddie Fiola was worried about how he looked? Everything new looks foreign at first, and those early guys – all pioneers in their own rights – took a lot of crap to get BMX where it is today.

Pedal Grinds look really fun (we have video already!).

Bulletball is to BMX what Flow Pedals are to BMX.

I don’t think new ideas should be hated on for no reason at all. I’m all for progression, but not by any means possible. If there is going to be pussies in BMX, they might as well be behind a lens or writing about it…something constructive for everyone. Don’t create a product that takes all the heritage of our “sport”. I have nothing against skateboarders and nothing against inline skaters, but scooters are just an All Time Low. Flatland is more dangerous than doing anything on a scooter.

This is my heated Opinion on the subject. Have respect for BMX.

  • kane

those pedals are so fucking ugly. Where is a legit pic to see how gay this fucking thing is.

  • yermum

Ha, Ha, point taken! There were a few beers involved there

    Dude looks like a lady!

  • http://www.redendo.com John Dale

So, you’re calling Daniel D. a pussy for using a foam pit, since that reduces the danger level?

For what it’s worth, the product is definitely a tribute to bicycle riding’s origin:
