I by no means am not implying that advertising doesn't work... I wouldn't have received my undergrad in marketing and my MBA in International Business if so, as as for Ball Park having a lot of money, that's actually false as well (not trying to be a dick, nor undermine anyone on here) but Ball Park is owned by Sara Lee, and if anyone here watches the market you can check for yourself.. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/sara-lee-posts-lower-revenue-stock-takes-a-hit-2009-08-12
Sara lee has had a number off as well which I'm sure the R&D had to tighten their belt.

But as for the topic at hand, obviously they had seen some potential in the market; otherwise they wouldn't have invested in that advertisement space. I realize that the magazine company 'sold out' however they are still floating BMX with revenue, which is back to my initial point we still need to pat them on the back.

If nobody else well, thank you Ball Park. Because of you I can still receive my subscription in the mail and see more interesting photos and stories because your revenue allows photographers to travel to more places and have more interesting things to write about, making my time in the bathroom more enjoyable from better reading material.

Are you actually implying that advertising doesn't work? Ball Park has a LOT of money to throw around, I'm sure at least some of it is spent analyzing where their dollars are best spent. The effects of advertising don't have to be as simplistic as "I saw a Ballpark logo on the cover of that magazine, so I'm going to go buy some", and these companies know that.

Nobody here is arguing that advertising is inherently wrong, but this cover is certainly notable in that it is the first time that we can prove an action sports magazine has essentially sold off ad space on their cover. At the very least it is worthy of discussion.

yes I have, ya see I was doing manual to nowhere 180s one day at the park, and ripped my sisters pants! It was such a crazy bail man, bent my Oakland A's hat, and scuffed up my Nikes, so it was time to go home. I was limping away from my gnarly ass 180 crash (from 2 feet up!) and I noticed a grumble in my tummy. I looked across the street, and saw a BallPark hotdog vendor, and said to myself "What would Mike Spinner do?" I immmediatly bought a footlong and proceeded to jam it down my throat...mmmmm lips and asshole sticks are so yummy
