With Jeff Z as the trusty tour guide, they discovered plenty of setups in a little sleepy town found in the state’s northern mountains. Justin Simpson, Gary Young, Sean Sexton and George Boyd were all aboard for the mission. Sean had the misfortune of piercing a giant hole in his knee within what was probably only 15 minutes of getting out of the van so he’s a little MIA in this video. Fortunately, our TM and all around shredder Jim Bauer was on hand to score some extra clips and annihilate the longest rail in sight. This is our latest ODSY Vision. Enjoy.“- Odyssey

Mike Jonas has some really unique tricks up his sleeve, some of which I can say I’ve never seen before, ever.

Defgrip did a gear check with Dave Parrick to see what he’s shooting the long awaited Empire DVD with. Surely all the gear geeks out there (such as myself) will appreciate it.

When it comes to online contest coverage, it’s always a rush to see how fast everyone can get all the wild action up, and the quality seems to be an after thought. It makes sense, because people (for the most part) just want to see what happened as close to live as they can. That said, it certainly is refreshing to see someone take the opposite approach. Nike’s “The Pool” event is nearly two months old; ancient history by the internet’s standards. So why is it even worth it for Defgrip to release their “The Pool” video? Because they aren’t trying to compete with the rest of the pack. Defgrip focused on filming/editing quality and capturing the feel of the event, and I think they nailed it. Defgrip just opened up the embedding on this awesome Josh Harrington feature that Harrison put together at Simpel Session earlier this year. If you missed it the first time make sure you watch this, it’s pretty epic and really shows what life is like for a seasoned pro like Josh.

BK has an awesome interview on Defgrip. He’s got a lot of interesting stuff to see but he touches on one thing I think bears quoting:

“This might sound a bit weird or elitist, but I have always thought that pro-level riding should be put on a pedestal. My friends are some of the best riders in the world, they are seriously incredible and I’m surrounded by them constantly through trips, sessions, texts, calls, tweets, etc. The internet has been a good thing for BMX, but what I thought was lost a bit was this exclusivity. Sometimes these riders were forced to just spew out edits that might not capture the real essence of their talent or personality.”
