Part 2 of the OSS premiere featuring Brad Simms, Edwin Delarosa, Mike Mastroni, Nigel Sylvester, Skinny, Day Day and a special appearance from Jim C himself. Luckily Chris Long was too drunk to capture the violence and unprotected sex that took place later that night. Also Derek Bristow fell asleep in the apartment above mine and woke up to the people who live there all staring at him and asking him “are you Jorge’s friend?”
There’s one more of these coming soon featuring actual bike riding, BTW.
UPDATE: For the record, that conversation between Mike and the girl started because she asked me “who was the dude that did all the creative stuff?” Proof that doing good bike tricks can pay off, however infrequently.
Nigel mania continues. Here’s J Cole performing “Who Dat?” and “Blow Up” at Nigel’s birthday party with Mr. Feel Me by his side via RR. The people I follow on Twitter are mostly rappers and BMXers, so I had to laugh this morning when I checked Twitter and saw the 2 merging in the form of Elliott Wilson (legendary hip hop journalist who runs Rap Radar from Queens just like Nigel) trying to figure out what was going on here:
I also spotted this photo of Nigel hanging with Angie Martinez and Miss Info of NYC’s Hot 97, which is also pretty crazy.
“China is fast becoming one of the most talked about countries for BMX, so it only made sense for the Nike 6.0 crew to spend some time riding the country, while attending the Asian X Games. Garrett Reynolds, Dennis Enarson, Alex Kennedy and Jason Phelan made the trip to score some X Games medals, shred Shanghai/Beijing and ride with the locals as part of the Stoked Tour.”- Nike 6.0
“We are hosting a game of B.I.K.E. in Manhattan on Monday in honor of Nigel’s birthday. Click here for the location and check the flyer for all the details. Everyone is welcome to come hang out.”- Animal
Here’s Nigel talking with some radio hosts about what it’s like being black and riding BMX, how he got sponsored and a bunch of other topics. When they ask him how he got sponsored he says that in BMX, companies notice your riding and not the other way around; hungry kids, take note.
“Jabari Presents” is a documentary series mostly known for interviewing musicians and entertainers. He decided to do something a little different this time around, and caught up with Nigel Sylvester. Nigel talks about looking up to Dave Mirra, loving the early Animal videos, and quitting BMX for cars.
Gatorade’s video series following Nigel’s trip to Phoenix continues. It’s pretty short due to some rain, but Nigel fits in a big drop, a few grinds, and his buddy Ralphy gets the banger.
Nike has a new shoe in their customizable iD line, and here you can see what Garrett chose for his new shoes. Check out Nigel’s selection after the jump. Continue reading Nigel and Garrett’s Custom Nikes >
Here’s a new project Nike has going on that Nigel has a role in:
“In conjunction with the World Basketball Festival, Nike Sportswear is connecting the Five Boroughs of New York City in a celebration of its iconic Air Force 1 sneaker. Nike Sportswear has chosen five ambassadors from each of the five boroughs to participate in a program that includes original pieces of online content, a basketball tournament, and a Manhattan block party takeover.
The Five Borough ambassadors include rapper, songwriter and producer Theophillus London from Brooklyn; up and coming rapper Miss Banks from Harlem; Rapper and Young Money record artist Corey Gunz from the Bronx; Format, a BMX lifestyle store and crew led by Nigel Sylvester, from Queens; and from Staten Island— host of the longest running show on WSIA in New York, Emilio Sparks. Each ambassador will document his or her memories of growing up in each borough in unique pieces of content.”
Here Nigel hits up Arizona along with his buddy Ralphy Ramos. They even meet up with the legendary Smoker Dave. Things don’t go as planned, but in the end, the dumpster gets smith 180ed and that’s all that matters.
Also Nigel has a new website based around this project up here.
