Alex Kennedy and Simone Barraco have blown up huge in the last year, and for good reason. Here they are in Tel Aviv, Israel over the course of 12 days for Nike. The edit has a really raw vibe to it, no bullshit intros or too much b-roll, just a really simple beat and a ton of insane riding. There is so much good shit in this edit its hard to point out too many specifics, but AK does a really dope Unluc-e to Ice down a ledge, and a bunch of other wild NBD ledge moves, and Simone has a bunch of his trademark tech barspin lines that are next level. Watch this.

I have no idea if this is actually authorized by Nike (if it isn’t, I’m sure it’ll be offline soon) but it’s got an animated Dennis Enarson and Nigel talking about the shoes they ride. The animation is pretty hilarious and worth watching.

I’ve always kind of scoffed at the idea of trailers for web edits, but I think we can all agree that this one is probably warranted. AK & Simone are no strangers to shutting the internet down, so both of them in one edit is sure to deliver. Everyone I’ve talked to who has seen it said its absolutely crazy. Can’t wait for this one…

Nike recently got Chad Kerley, Dennis Enarson, Garrett Reynolds and Nigel Sylvester out to Texas to film a web video and this is the trailer. It’s good to see the crew back together. There isn’t much riding in this, but what there is… mindblowing. Really stoked to see this.

“As you recently wrote your thoughts on the Levis dvd, I was wondering what is your opininon about the Nike 6.0 – Writing On The Wall video, as it is the another big nonbmx company, which started invest heavily in bmx.”

The Nike video and the Levis video could share the same review, honestly. Different videos, similar results.

So first off: Mike Spinner’s section was horrible. Mike’s a nice guy and a talented rider but his style of riding doesn’t translate to video and the section as a whole is just terrible. Even riding to Alkaline Trio couldn’t save him.

Nigel’s section was an average Nigel web video. They filmed it all over the world but his Skavenger section was way better, his Cuts section was infinitely better, etc. His banger is awesome but on a whole, this video featured Nigel at his worst, desperately trying to get clips on set up’s that he almost certainly had no interest in filming on.

And then Dennis and Garrett had really amazing sections, which I don’t really need to elaborate on because you already know that they were awesome.

My problem with the Nike video is simple: it won video of the year, but at it’s core it’s not a very good video. Have you seen the actual DVD? Has anyone? It’s got the 4 pro rider sections and then a bunch of weird international mixes in between. The Nike video, more so than any other NORA winner ever, proves why the NORA system is flawed: great riders aren’t necessarily great at judging and ranking riding. Did Garrett deserve to win best part, yes. But I don’t think anyone could put together a convincing argument that the video deserved to beat Safety First or Brighton Ain’t Ready, which were both great videos from start to end.
