“How many hours have you wasted on Twitter?”

How many have I wasted? Countless. My top 3 ways I’ve wasted time on Twitter:

1) If you’ve never had a break up in the Twitter age, you’ve gotta give it a try. You can find out so much information about a girl with just a few searches on Twitter. You can look at who she’s following and figure out who she’s recently come in contact with. You can search Twitter and find tweets that are archived, even if they have been deleted from that person’s timeline. You can see who is mentioning her. It’s really a great way to find out if someone is being sketchy and also waste time, since almost all relationships are, in fact, a waste of time.

2) Rappers. I used to follow a ton of rappers. It’s addictive. So many rappers are so fucking stupid that it’s just endlessly fascinating. Following popular, stupid rappers like Waka Flocka is entertaining, but following rappers like OJ Da Juiceman or Ja Rule (before he went to jail) who aren’t at the pinacle of their career is even better. Like the other day when OJ tweeted a photo of himself in what is blatantly a Motel 6. The same guy who wrote “I’m Getting Money”. It’s a fun way to see the lives of rappers that they don’t want to talk about, the lives that they’re living when they’re not pretending to be Superman. I have also watched OJ (one of the few rappers trashy enough to blatantly state how much he charges for guest verses) slowly drop his asking price from 5000 to 3500 and I am assuming that number will continue declining. All this is very interesting to me.

I have since stopped following all rappers besides Riff Raff.

3) Following porn stars. I never really got into this too deep, but a lot of my friends follow dozens of these broads. Since moving to LA and actually hanging out with porn stars (what up Ash) I can confirm that the whole Bree Olson “say the craziest shit possible” thing is pretty much always bullshit. These chicks know what they’re doing and they’re all just trying to promote themselves like the rest of us. It’s just that they gain fans by tweeting about their assholes and I… well, I guess we aren’t so different.

That being said, Twitter is a HUGE tool for publishers like myself. Sometimes I’ll post a link to a video and it’ll immediately get retweeted 20 times. That’s big. When I’m trying to make sure that more people see a new video on our site than anywhere else, Twitter makes a big difference. That being said, Facebook is MUCH bigger than Twitter but things go viral more easily (in a sense) on Twitter. I consider it an integral part of our promotional strategy, so while I have wasted time on Twitter, I’ve also gained a lot from it.

So here’s the deal, Twitter has basically taken over the BMX world. Every single day thousands and thousands of Tweets take place by pretty much every company in BMX, the majority of pro riders and every kid under the sun as well. But for a Twitter newb, it can be confusing. This is out attempt to organize every notable person who uses Twitter. I’m going to start off with a basic listing and then bump this post up to the top of the site every time we do an update. If you feel like we are missing something, feel free to comment on this post with links to deserving riders, companies or whatever and we’ll update. Got it? Go!

Aaron Ross continues to answer your questions from Twitter.

No, not really. But there’s a hilarious article over on ESPN which tells the whole story of how Tom’s sarcastic remarks on Twitter about blowing up the White House, Pentagon, his own house, and his flight, landed him and his parents a couple visits from the FBI & Secret Service. Lol @ this really happening, and them telling him he could lose his sponsors over it.

Albes has to have 5,000 Twitter followers by July 31st, 2010 to have a 50% off sale, and they are only at 1,942! Tell your friends, parents, neighbors and anyone easily influenced to add Albes on Twitter now.

Next up, Daniel Dhers claims Mirra is doing much better. Details are still scarce on The Miracle Boy’s status but it sounds like it turned out a lot better than it could have.

Ride says that they have another video in the works. I haven’t heard much noise about Range Of Motion (buy it here) on the forums online (despite the fact that it is actually pretty darn good) so I was surprised to read this, but the more BMX DVD’s, the better.

And finally today while out filming, Alex Platt smacked his head hard enough on a rail hop gone wrong that we had to bring him to the hospital. The nurse was being a bitch and Alex was being rude right back to her and the cops ended up coming in and kicking Mastroni, Scott Marceau and I out, then Alex voluntarily left and went to another hospital where they were much nicer to him. He’s still there being monitored but his condition is stable.

UPDATE: I guess he actually fractured his skull in 3 places, so it’s worse than I thought, but he’s still expected home pretty soon and shouldn’t be off his bike for too long.
