This is pretty cool actually because it shows you Rick’s motivation for why he still does what he does. A lot of you might have artistic differences with Rick, but I respect that he’s been able to make a good living at this BMX shit after all these years without ever being particularly gnarly on a bike.
Needless to say, this is much better than that other video of the tour we posted. Dude who produced it seriously blacked out in the comments with killer quotes like:
“It was edited to be more of a mixtape in hip hop standards a culture mist of you is unfamiliar with. Get used to it cause it’s not gonna stop. And don’t bite style because most of these bids posted here are clean but boring and the same.”
I’ve been listening to hip hop my entire life, and never til now knew that rap music was all about not using the zoom feature on your camera.
“I’m going to introduce a photographic stile that will be heavily borrowed due to a lack of openmindedness on this site and the sport.”
Here I was thinking Joe Simon and Navaz were the filmers to copy in BMX. Nope! This photographic stile is bound to become heavily borrowed.
“I wasn’t doing this video for just BMXer I did this video as new form of expression as it relates to hip hop. I’m still not convinced that the come down is relevant in the sport. They hate even on guys who are ridiculous. PS the riders were just amatuer kids and I’m sure there level is beyond most people leaving comments. BMX is also Art Fashion Lifestyle more deep than just your infactuation with Tricks.”
Shame on all of us for our infactuation with mysteriously capitalized Tricks!
Best part is that after defending his video like he had just written the fucking Quaran of BMX contest filming, he took it down. I guess the reality of 100+ negative comments (not just on here either) was just too much to ignore. The funny part to me, when people accuse me of perpetuating negativity in BMX, is that shit talk on wack shit like this always makes for some of the most fun comments sections! Real riders fuck with us and we don’t give a fuck who don’t.
