  • largemarge

    Jim is soo good!

  • blue

with all the long frames and big bars out today i dont know who will be tall enough to need a cruiser. I think it’s great that they dialed in good geo and all but i dont see the advantage.

  • JohnM

i wish i had one. i would still ride my 20inch so much more but it would be fun to dick around on or use to commute

  • http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn128/dunkdog79/Current%20Projects/chad.jpg Chris Duncan Clothing

its 2009 time for cruiser acceptance no homo

  • pollyFP!

    why would you?

  • john

all those mountain bike kids will get one.
    all about the benjamins homie

  • Hizzle

Wow Jim C on a 24″ looks better than 99% of the MTB’rs out there.

  • http://www.betherain.com tbvo

    that is sweet
    he kills it
that guy has got mad skills on wheels

  • jeffy

His rollbacks looked fuckin haggard on that thing… then again I can’t remember if jim c’s rollbacks were ever up to spec.

  • s&m 4ever

my back will need one of these in about 5 years time

  • JohnM

if every gay ass mtb rider got one of these for the skatepark. they’d gain like a thousand times more respect in my eyes. but a thousand times zero is still zero so they’d still be whack

  • DOYLE IS YA NEGRO

    MONSTER TRUCKIN’ SHIT

  • homeless

it’s awesome. if i had bare p to waste on a cruiser, i’d get one. take the brakes off, put 4 pegs on and you can sling it and do rails on your way down the shop for beers.

  • gh24uhv2uv

when all your backs are more fucked you’ll understand. i dont think the people that will buy these will really want to do grinds and shit anyway. when your old and you just want to CRUISE around a skatepark or ride some trails you’ll see the importance guys.

i think some impartial testers are needed…………..

  • g-rant

    it’s still mtb! big floppies!

  • booooooo

I once saw one of those sidewalk surfer longboards at the skatepark and thought it sucked. I feel the same way about this. its like the skateboard with knobbies made for dirt.

  • RayRay

    Love it!!

  • andy

    wrong

  • Max

I always forget how good Jim C is!

  • John

that cruiser looks so fun, it would definitely be easier on the back. jim c is still killin it!

  • Brian Dodson

Sweet jim! it’s cool to see people doing different things and that’s how jim’s always been….rad

  • http://blog.defgrip.net/2008/11/us-them/#comment-4780 more here!!!!!!!!!

    monster

  • kidder

i’m not gonna bother watching it. i don’t know why bmx needs bigger bikes all of a sudden, we’ve been getting on just fine.

  • http://www.sundaybikes.com Jim C

First off, this is nothing like the skateboard with big knobbies for dirt. That never worked, but this does. To be honest, this bike isn’t for the 15 year old who’s been riding only for a few years or even the guy that is really really into a 20″. Tall guys it would work for, but I think it’s for older guys who got out of riding and want to get back into it. There is a big difference in comfort between a 20 and a 24. Going from a 20 to a 24 is not big deal, but going in reverse is not so easy. So for these older guys getting back into it, this is perfect. You can still do all the tricks, but its a lot safer so you’ll still be able to support your family and go to work Monday morning in one piece.

I had the discussion yesterday with one of my distributors about how you are starting to see the older freestyle generation come back to riding. There was a huge successful old school reunion last weekend at Woodward West. There’s a whole generation of guys that started when the sport began and they are coming back to it. Not sure if they all quit, but you might start seeing that thing that skateboarding did a few years back. All the old skaters started skating again and all the old pros started showing up in magazines as a result. Both sports have atleast 4 generations of riders now. Its way bigger than we might think.

  • bobby

you also forgot to mention that this bike is great for people who just like to have fun riding bikes…any type of bike.
your wheel size doesnt matter when it comes to having fun. sometimes people’s attitudes or pre-conceived notions on a particular bike might come into play…but if you just rode this bike for yourself you would instantly be having fun on it. promise.

  • Brian Dodson

    Very true.

  • i just wanna see what’s possible

well if it’s for the older guy getting back in to riding, why are they getting in to mountain biking (which is what this is) instead of bmx. sorry if i’m being immature, i expect a response that shows how you’re mind is infinately more superior to mine.

  • i just wanna see what’s possible

start with my grammar error (you’re should have been your)

  • http://www.myspace.com/muffinmanbikes muffinman

before bmx i rode a 24inch and it was fun as fuck just like b.m.x,deff gettin one of these bikes if i ever get extra guap they look poppin

  • bobby

tecnically this isnt a mountain bike….

    mountain bike
    Function:
    noun
    Date:
    1983

: an all-terrain bicycle with wide knobby tires, straight handlebars, and typically 18 to 21 gears.

from what i noticed in the video above…jim’s bike had fairly smooth treaded tires, a riser bar (kinda even looks like a bmx bar doesn’t it?), and i also do believe that typically every clip i saw, the bike only had one gear on it.

my mind is only more superior to yours because it is open.

  • fuckin turtle head

    gross

  • big bikes

if you’re old and tall. get a Lurch with sky highs. top load stem. i’m old as shit. cruisers are for going to the corner to pick up a 40.

  • MMMMCXXX

    My back loves big wheels.

  • http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn128/dunkdog79/Current%20Projects/chad.jpg Chris Duncan Clothing

jims ahead of the curve don’t hate

  • jeremy

he 540′d it on a mellow bank. haters chill.

  • agent420

i want a silver one as a sick commuter.

u could go so fast but still manual, hop proper and hit up street.

    fuck ya.

  • Joshua

Chris, if you don’t mind me asking, I had been wondering what exactly you said to Stricker back in the day that made him want to punch you at some contest?

  • hippy hop

you ever bunny hopped a model c……………….on weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed?

  • Toby

How the fuck is this a mountain bike – no 26″ wheels, no suspension (or suspension corrected)forks, no disc brakes, no gears & it has bmx sized bars.
Where in Bicycle Motorcross does it say 20 inch.

  • schwartz

when you are too old and stiff to ride a 20 inch, are you gonna move to a mtb? No, you are going to get a sunday cruiser and ride until you die.

  • chom

toptube is basically the same goddamn length, you just have bigger wheels and more ground clearance for your pedals. How does that magically cure your arthritis, grandpa???

Butttt you do gain the ability to roll over large rocks and do shittier rollbacks!

  • dre

wtf, how does bigger wheels with normal toptube length do anything for your back? you are basically in the same position. all this will do is roll smoother, turn slower be slightly more forgiving to sketchy riding IN A STRAIGHT LINE. Anything involving turning and you will have less fine tuning control.

Get that pseudo-scientific “saves your back, saves your family” bullshit out of here.

“but its a lot safer so you’ll still be able to support your family and go to work Monday morning in one piece. ” Fuck you and your dishonest marketing. YOU DON’T LOVE YOUR CHILDREN IF YOU DON’T RIDE A SUNDAY CRUISER!!!! CALL TODAY!

If you really want to be safer, learn bike control on a normal 20 inch, and i promise you can dodge traffic and avoid disaster much better than on this big wheel.

I was a fan of this until I read that these washed up dudes are proclaiming this as the BMX FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH!

HOW BOUT YOU GET A BETTER JOB AND STOP CHASING YOUR TEEN DREAM BMX FANTASIES. LET IT GO, OLD MAN.

Buy this bike for CRUISING on the street. Don’t buy into this “do all the same bmx tricks safely” bullshit.

  • ETIKET

“my mind is only more superior to yours because it is open.” -I believe that to be the best thing I have ever read on this site.

  • Up

    Word

  • MMMMCXXX

Old hit me sooner than I thought.

  • g-rant

when i go to the skatepark and i see a MOUNTAIN BIKE with risers, 24 inch wheels, a single gear, no brakes, flat pedals.. it’s still a mountain bike. this has already been invented by mountain bike companies.

would you enter one of these in a bmx contest? no! it’s not a bmxxxxxxxxxxxxx :) .

  • bb

Its just an option, you dont have to sell your series 3 and profile hubs to get one of these instead. at least jims done this properly making a cruiser that can be tricked on, for the people who want one. Its not about making everyone switch and become mountain bikers, its offering a better option for people who want to ride a cruiser but do some tricks as well who up until now havent exactly been spoilt with modern 24″ frames.

  • cattheif

so riding cruiser bikes like bmx bikes is cool but even using a fixed gear to commute is gay?

what happened to supporting all bikes. just enjoying cycling in all forms?

  • Jason

Total shame that some people don’t respect anything at all. People that hop on forum boards have nothing better to say but hate, u should go back to Myspace and update you’re profile!!!.. Get out of your tight jeans, Mom basement, learn some F N manners, Respect people that ride period.
