He’s left foot forward, which in surfing, skating, and in BMX for as long as I can remember, is REGULAR FOOTED. Right foot forward is goofy-footed. He spins the opposite way as most left-foot forward guys, which is to say he does 180s and 360s to the left, not the right. Which, technically, is doing stuff “frontside” or “hard way.” If you’re going to talk shit on him for being goofy, at least know what the fuck it is.

I’m not being a smart ass–If turning frontside is “the wrong way,” then people who are bothered by it need to come up with a BMX specific name for it–because “goofy-footed” means right foot forward. It’s a phrase that came from surfing, then to skateboarding, then to BMX…then it was made meaningless by people who started riding last week. Goofy footed means only one thing: right foot forward. I also find it retarded that people consider doing 180s frontside or “hard way” or opposite or whatever you want to call it unacceptable. If someone was doing a frontside air or grind instead of a backside would you run after them and cry “hey, that’s the wrong way!” Stop being a bitch–bikes turn in both directions.

I have a good BMX specific name, let’s call it goofy footed. It’s what everyone called it when I started riding 10 years ago and everyone but one person seems to understand that it means you turn against your forward foot. Smith and feeble grinds are when you grind with your rear truck on with your board hanging over the rail, guess we have to rename those too. As to complaining about it – it looks disgusting, nobody wants to see it in a web video. This dude’s edit was badass, as everyone can tell, but any spinning goofy footed is just nauseating. I mean some guys like to make out with other guys, sure it’s cool I’m sure they enjoy it, but I don’t want to see that shit. If you are goofy do yourself a favor and just run 4 pegs and do straight gaps to flat.

Has BMX really come to this. People are basing acceptance on what foot is forward in relation to what side your pegs are on or what way you spin. “you spin and grind and all that shit the wrong way than your meant too” MEANT TO??!! Who decided what we were meant to do?? When I started riding I had pegs on one side. After a while I wanted more out of what I was doing, so I put them on the other side and learned that way. I am never going to roll up to ANY type of setup and say, “that’s not my side” or “I don’t spin that way” and anyone that does should be embarrassed. There is no WRONG way to do what we do. Whats really ugly about BMX is letting all of these supposed rules get in the way of riding absolutely anything you can. I’m not letting anyone’s opinion of what I should be doing on my bike get in the way of how much fun I have. I will never let some douche bag tell me that I’m doing it the wrong way based on what foot I have forward. The rest of you cant let this simple minded crap influence you in a negative way. Yes BMX is about having fun, so if someone makes a web video and they are having fun in it everybody is now required to like it. If being goofy footed is such a non-issue then why do people always bring it up? It’s ugly. The only people defending it are also goofy footed.

growing up i clearly remember reading a how to on some dirt jumps and the quote was roughly “if you turning this way and your feet are this way then STOP, that is goofy and you don’t want to learn anything goofy footed”. With this said the fact that spam has no knowledge of bmx from anything further than one year ago does not shock me in the least.
