Only the coolest of the cool post insults on an international forum, but try to justify it by cluing us in that its an “inside Joke”. I feel so honored and left out at the same time. Alex4130, the problem isn’t the whips, bars, nohanders, toboggans, etc, it’s the motivation behind learning them. If you’re learning them because they seem fun and you want to add them to your riding, that’s awesome; more power to you. But if someone is learning them because he wants to have “a cool trick that all the pros are doing” in his edit, that is incredibly lame and such a person should really reassess why he’s riding BMX in the first place.

An edit is supposed to be a reflection of your riding, not whatever riding is the flavor of the month. Therefore, anyone who learns a trick solely for the purpose of putting the icing on his edit-cake (i.e. making his edit more delectable to the masses, while drawing it further away from his own riding style) is making a contribution toward the gradual decline of what BMX is and should be.

Lastly, time is all relative. I would gladly devote years of practice to a trick I want to learn, but I refuse to spend even ten minutes on something that I don’t want. Those years would be time well spent; those minutes would be an absolute waste.

In short, do what you want to do, but be sure to film your riding as it is. If the world doesn’t like it… well, that just means they don’t like your riding. It happens. I’d rather be honest than liked anyday.
