So here we are again. Lately, I’ve been getting some help running the site, so I decided to do my own top 10 list, and then get Cory to do his own additional top ten since there’s definitely a lot of good stuff that I haven’t bothered to watch this month (theoretically I should get Chris to do a list too but I’m trying to keep this at least sort of simple). So I’ll update you all when Cory does his. What made it? What didn’t? Check my top 10 after the jump.
NOTE: This post has been stickied for the rest of the day, look below for new stuff.
Previously: Top 10 Web Videos Of September 2009 | Top 10 Web Videos Of August 2009
10) Dub DVD Trailer – A lot of video trailers attempt to get you excited by showing half-clips of exciting tricks, and usually it’s just annoying. In this case, I think it worked though. There are so many wild grinds in here that I can’t wait to see the actual clips of and given the Dub team roster, I can’t imagine this video being bad. Look for the next Dub trailer to appear exclusively on The Come Up.
9) Craig Passero Sunday Web Video - Craig’s a good friend of mine, but this edit is just awesome in my mind either way. I dig the song and it’s good to see some footage of him online even though I know most of this stuff wasn’t too hard for him. Look for big things from Craig in the future.
8 ) Hoffman Bikes UK Tour Video - Not sure why but this video was definitely one of my favorites this month. Seth kills it. It’s also just super well put together, and I like the song a lot.
7) Matty Long Volume Web Video - Matty has been keeping his streak going with this little number. Lots of bangers in here, but wait til you see the stuff he’s been filming more recently.
6) Reservoir Dogs – Bas Keep’s Ride UK cover this month is definitely one of the most shocking things I’ve ever seen done on a BMX bike. This video at least does something to add a sort of human element to the cover and shows how he was able to build up to being able to doing an air that big. As a bonus, Ben Hennon and Dan Lacey both do some real good stuff in here too.
5) TCU Megatour Leftovers - Keep in mind this is MY top ten, haha. This shit was just hilarious. It’s like, y’know how you look through a scrap book of photos after not having looked at it for years and it’s a good feeling? Watching this gave me that feeling, except it wasn’t pictures of me with my Grandma, it was me molesting Rory and singing MGMT.
4) TCU Exclusive Tom Davis Web Video – Don’t blame me for putting out three of the top 10 this month. Watch this and tell me you don’t agree it’s dope. K, thx.
3) Lotek Dirt/Wolfman/Kurtis Edit – Dirt, Wolfman and Kurtis Elwell are definitely 3 of my favorite riders to see footage of and this edit delivered.
2) Lil Stevie Web Video – Pretty much nobody had ever heard of this kid before, then he drops a web video that was filmed in 20 minutes and gets 150+ comments and 50k+ Youtube views (that’s what I’d call going viral). A perfect 540 barspin on a bank and a 720 down stairs apparently did the trick. Word is he’s pulled that 720 perfectly clean on other occasions. I’d love to see a web video that this kid spent more than a day working on… maybe it’s in the works?
1) TCU Exclusive Shadow Conspiracy Philly Roadtrip Web Video – I must really be feeling myself to give a video we premiered the number 1 spot, but when looking at my list of possible candidates, none of them stood out more than this one. Rickey Bates killed it, Seth K had some of his best footage in recent memory, Karl rode sick and Johnny Devlin made his triumphant return to BMX after 10 months of not riding! This is about as good as it gets in web videos these days. Props to Shadow for letting TCU help them promote this one.
Of course, there are more than 10 videos that I liked this month so here are a few more as a bonus:
Chris Brown Volume Web Video - I’ve liked the stuff I have seen from this kid so far but this edit is really awesome. Now he’s just got to put out a real video part so we can see what he’s really made of!
Ride UK Odyssey Team Web Video – To be honest, even after watching this video in the UK like 5 times, I still haven’t really paid attention to any of the teams except this one. I’m probably missing out, but y’know, fuck it. Actually I saw part of the Shadow section too and that seemed good.
Etnies BMX Session – No Bikes Allowed – Normally an indoor park edit would have a hard time making the list, but when you have Aaron Ross, Nathan Williams, Brian Kachinsky and everyone else that Etnies has on their team in it, it’s different.
Niki Croft Orchid Web Video – I met this dude in London and he’s a fucking savage. I don’t really have any further words to explain why, he just is, you kinda got to meet him to understand. His riding is amazing though and this video is a good example of such.
