Troy Mcmurray Footage.
by adam on 03/20/09
It’s been a long time. Also, I heard Troy was getting hooked up by Eastern… so I Emailed Leigh and asked and didn’t get a response. Maybe that’s a yes? Speculation!
UPDATE: Leigh hit me up and let me know that he hooked Troy up with some shit, but that it’s not a team thing or anything. They are old friends from back when Leigh used to run Useless Clothing. You should check out the comments on this post to read Jim C’s comment about the earliest brakeless riders.

The Primo Scrap-O-licious Edit
Peg Leg/Dig Exclusive Fall Edit.
Troy Merkle - NOS
S&M NEED TO GET STREET AGAIN AND DROP THE WARPIG RE-MAKE OR GET A LITTLE BIT GAY (BUT ACCEPTABLE IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES) AND DROP THE WARPIG LT.
BMX NEEDS MORE WISHBONES AND GUSSETS AND MCMURRAY STYLE RIDING.
I heard they’re hooking him up with a Hercules
Hahahaha….EPIC.
the aluminum one?
From a Warpig to a Grim Reaper? Damn.
fuck that gay shit, troy kicks way to much ass, have you seen his section in S and M video 4? 360 nac, 360 half bar, shreds it better then most cunts now, fuck eastern, s and m is the way, troy kicks ass hands down,
i didnt watch the video before i commented but i just did and he does a 360 half bar in that video, keepin real faggot ass bitch ass
Perhaps if he donned girl jeans, drank expresso and wore a v-neck, he’d be a real man?
Kids better recognize! Troy’s riding was a major part of getting me into street. S&M 4 “dont pay more than $15 for this video”
question for some of the old school guys ( and I mean dudes in before 1994). Who was the first dude to rip brakeless. In my time in BMX it was McMurray so fuck yeah on his comeback.
maybe the Gonz?
thats the thing tho; troys never been gone. he still rides all the time with the pusher guys. things just slow down when you finally settle down and get married and have a kid. its sweet to see guys like him take a step back from the light but never quit killing it. he does some of the most insane hang5 combos ive ever seen on some of the steepest tranny. word up troy. anyone question brakeless, look at the rideUS issue of the brakeless revolution. his commentary on it is valid and to the point. the only dude i know to hit the v trails after a month off and air 15 feet up and not case.
Troy McMurray is da mothaf*’n bomb! O.G, shredder from ‘97 bitches! Bringin’ back that old skool flava circa “High Rollers; Journey 6″. He can ride anything he wants, as long as it don’t break!
Damn right. Great video. Someone put THAT on YouTube.
Lake Tahoe 1997 Red Bull king of the wings Dirt Jump comp. Me and Colin Winkleman get off the plane & meet up with Troy at Baggage claim. Troy has our ride already taken care of with hippie girls to the resort. We all get in the VW van and Troy smokes out me and Colin. Were sooo high and by the time we get to the resort I see TJ Lavin and think that he is Vanilla Ice.
TOO HIGH!….We all eventually ride the jumps to initially to get them going. That night we all go to a mountain party and Troy does dick tricks for this blond hottie until her BF decided to get the Tahoe party posse in his face ready to kill him. Troy told everyone to fuck off making the tension worsen. Me and Freddy Chulo had to pull Troy into the truck bed to cart him away from the party, so he wound not get broke off by all of Tahoes punk party posse . As the truck was leaving the Troy stood up and said a last fuck you, then a bottle struck him in the face. We were shocked. A piece of glass got in his eye. The next day was the comp and Troy won wearing an eye patch. He was (brakeless) doing a decades and big macs (double trucks…catch to catch for the new kids.
True story
Tahbro Duncan, place is fueled by testosterone haha
WHERES ZACH SPRINKLE
I hear ya. Tailwhipping down stairs, concrete filled steer tubes……great era in street.
His bike weighed like 60 pounds.
best news i’ve seen in a while
Troy was one of the first guys to ride brakeless for sure. There were probably others before him, but it was him that sort of kicked off the trend. Edgar Placencia had some photos riding flat before that. I’m sure Mark Gonzales rode brakeless before that. Greg Guilliette rode vert brakeless way back in 1989. Maybe a lot of it wasn’t by choice, bikes sucked and so did brakes back then. Troy took them off even though his bike worked fine. He was also the first guy to do 360 barspin fakies on quarterpipes. And I swear he did a fufanu slide down a rail, but there’s no footage.
used to use this dude in dave mirra freestyle bmx 2
Me too. ha. He is way good.
wow troy i mis seeing him at mtv sports and music fast .. that was a good time n bmx
Damn, I’ve missed this fucker.
alot of people hate on his 411 day in the life, but for the most part I think what he does in that video is better than some dude thinking that a day in the life means that he had to kill himself on some rails.Instead he eats tacos and paints his house, also shreds the vans bowl.Normal day. Also hopefully he brings fist fights back to bmx,or Eastern re-invents a 4 pound Sabbath frame somehow.
the sabbath came before the warpig.
i think?
True.
Sabbath was Sean McKinney (I think??). The dude who owns Revenge!
The WarPig was the street version of it since a 9lb frame use to be required for street
sabbath was mckinney’s flatland frame, and troy rode wanted an altered version for his frame. called the warpig, one of sabbath’s songs.
i remember watching troy at my local park back in the day. this is good.
sound?
troy is a total badass
the warpig was my first decent frame. and isnt this footage like two years old, i swear i’ve seen it before
road fools five, the deep south. troy rides bucknutty’s ramp ranch, drinks beer, and signs tits. dude is epic and is someone who always added inspiration to my riding.
holy shit hahahaha. Proud to say i have gotten the wildest 5 in the morning phone calls from this guy saying things that cant see the light of day. That is one dude that seriously has lived and died and inspired so many. if you read this you still owe me money from 5 years ago hahahaha
spy footage?!
still my favourite rider.
man i rember seeing him in road foold 5 and he killed it. only guy on that trip rideing brakeless (besides matt hoffman) he was killing it. doing foot jam canadian pics. and halfcab 180 50/50’s. and in the same movie robbie moralis is pussing out on this lil bitch leadge about 3 cm above peg hight. haha.
TO BLACKPONYBMX:
Highrollers…….great f’ing video, eh?
“i love your boobs austin! “
Animal needs to hook this guy the fuck up.
Troy = Epitome of street.
To Adam:
Troy interview in the works, perhaps?
Troy interview would be sick! That ride interview is one of the best ever.
all i’ve ever wanted from the come up was mcmurray coverage. gimmie more
Troy is the one rider that has influenced me most in my riding.
He is one of the nicest guys. I remember @ the ‘97 Seal Beach contest, Troy walking up and down the beach collecting girls for Losey and the BMX Plus t-shirt shoot out, w/ the worst lines. Dude is def. a bad ass.
Hopefully this is just the beginning of more footage.
if anyone has a Warpig they want to part ways w/ let me know.
Please do an interview with him. Find out why he fell out of the spotlight and about the beef he use to have with Brian Deegan. I would love to read what he has to say these days. He is a legend. Please Adam
I would love to see what he had to say about today’s trends as well.
360 xer bar flip is dope
COLORADO represent!
I still having the warpig frame in my room, i love it, a new version of that would be totally awesome.
s&m 4… who was it he was tryin to get to hit that rail? rail was red, troy had on ugp socks haha, i can remember that but i cant fuckin remember who the guy was…. fuck the song was goin back to cali by biggie….
I still have “On the Down Low” and “Glote” on vhs. Troy is def one of the most memorable street riders of all time. I think I had a puma ad of him doing a barspin over a rail down an 8 set pinned up on my wall from the age of 12 till I moved out of my parents house.
Does anyone know where this video was filmed? If Troy is still in the Denver area, I’d be able to track him down and do an interview. I think it’d be sweet for the present day bmx world to hear from the legend and see how he feels about today’s pushers.
thats the boulder park. he rides a lot of parks around the denver area. he was at parker yesterday.
